Hot Springs of Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka is blessed with number of Hot Springs. Unfortunately due the
the LTTE terrorists most of these springs were not accessible
to the normal traveler. All except one was located in unsafe areas. The
only safe hot spring was the one at
Mahapelessa
( Sooriyawewa
). But with the destruction of the of the LTTE, all these places are
now freely accessible to all.
There are about 11 recognised hot springs in the country.

identified in Polonnaruwa near the Nelum Wewa (Reservoir)
close to the
foothills of
Dimbulagala

Rankihiriya / Ulpotha / Gomarankadawala
Gomarankadawala can be reached by on the Trincomalee - Horowpathana road.
Travel past Kannia, Pankulama and turn off to right at Kambakotte ( tamil
: Kambakoddai). Gomarankadawala is few kilometres in to this route. By
travelling past Gomarankadawala and Adampane you can also reach
Thiriyaya
.

Hot Spring

Mutugalwela
/ Gurukumbura
Mutugalwela lies inside the Maduru Oya National Park on the boarders of
the Maha Oya - Padiyathalawa - Mahiyangana Road. Details
of the hot spring unknown.
Kapurella
Said to located Inside the Kapurulla Buddhist Viharaya. No further inforantion
available.
