Traveling 25 km towards Anuradhapura from Trincomalee, you will come to the small town of Pankulam (originally known as Pan Wewa and the name tamilised over time). The Sri Gajaba Len Viharaya lies on the road towards Morawewa Reservoir from Pankulam.
This cave temple lies on a hill strewn with large boulders on this road. Large stone pillars, several meditation caves out of 3 with consist of Brahmi inscriptions are listed in Archaeological Dept. surveys of this location.
The Mora Wewa Reservoir lies 2 km further down this road. Note that the marker on the Google Map below points to an approximate location.
