Balabowa is a small town between Minuwangoda and Veyangoda in Gampaha District. An Ambalama is a place constructed for pilgrims, traders and travelers to rest or spend the night in the ancient Sri Lanka. They were built by kings, regional rulers and nobles as a service to the common man.

Balabowa Ambalama is a brick and mortar structure with four brick pillars holding the roof. The pillars are plain and carries no artwork. A half height  wall is built around the building with an opening for the entrance at the front.  The roof is tiled with semi cylindrical Sinhala Ulu clay tiles.

To reach this ambalama, travel towards Veyangoda from Minuwangoda. After passing Wadumulla junction, take a  right turn to the road which leads the Balabowa Junior School through paddy fields. The amblama lies adjoing the road in middle of a paddy field.
