This small stupa lies between the Ratnaprasada and the 3rd Samadhi Statue of Abayagiri Monastery in Anuradhapura. The stupa is built enclosing a natural rock and belongs to the Prasada type of Stupa similar to the Satmahal Prasada in Polonnaruwa. These have a square base instead of the usual circular base and are common in Thailand.

There are 4 known square-shaped stupas in Sri Lanka. The most popular is the Sathmahal Prasadaya. The rest of the 3 stupas can be found in the ancient Anuradhapura kingdom which are rarely visited by the pilgrims. One of these stupa is Nakha Vehera. The other 2 belong to the Abhayagiriya Monastic Complex.  One lies west of Eth Pokuna on the western border of the Abhayagiri Monastery among many other conserved structures and rarely visited by the average pilgrim. This is known as the Vahadu Mula Stupa or just square stupa. The fourth is this Prasada stupa.

The original name of the Stupa is not known but now it is known as Prasada Stupa. Locally it is also known as Indikatu Seya and also as the Tomb of King Dutugemunu. Only a part of the stupa remains today including some remains of the Image House. It is believed that this stupa belongs to a Mahayana Sect in the late Anuradhapura Period.
