The ruins of a unique Ambalama lies in Ambalanpotha in the Monaragala District in the Ambalanpotha area. Built in an elephant-infested forest a long time ago, this Ambalama is built on an 8-foot high brick platform to protect the various travelers from elephant attacks at night.
Unfortunately, the Ambalama is now in ruins with only the 8-foot platform and the staircase to the top remaining.
Ambalanpotha Ambalama can be reached by taking the Pelawatta – Passara road for about 6.5 km and turning right and travelling a further 1.5 km on this road.
