Hakurutale lies on the Mahaweli Raja Mawatha which starts from Kandy and connects to the Mahiyangana Bibile Road. The 6 metre high Hakurutale Ella waterfall lies adjoining this road before the access road to Victoria Power Station. The water from the fall flows under a bridge and falls onto Victoria Reservoir.
The waterfall has 2 parts. The bottom part can be clearly seen from the road but the top part is even more mesmerising but barely seen from the main road (see from 51s in the video below).
This waterfall is not listed in the LCWF. Waterfall is a seasonal ? (unknown). The marker on the Google Maps below points the the presumed location of the falls.
