This site lies on a rocky plain in the remote village of Kahatagasyaya in Uhana. The ruins including a rock cut flight of steps, chisel holing and crucible was declared as a protected archaeological site by the Government with the Gazette issued on 10th October 2014, and describes the location as follows ;
“Small rock plain with flight of steps, chisel holing and crucible at Kahatagasyaya village (latitude 07º 20′ 24” N and longitude 081º 34′ 10”E) situated in Grama Niladhari Division No. W/100/A/180, Kahatagasyaya in the Divisional Secretary’s Division Uhana in Ampara District in Eastern Province.”
GPS location is marked based on the above description. However it is recommended to get directions to the Bulathwaththayaya ruins from a villager in Kahatagasyaya.
