The 4-meter-high Rathu Palama Ella is not exactly a waterfall but a water flow over a slanted slab of rock. This small but beautiful waterfall is created by the Hangamu Oya in the remote village of Colombagama. The waterfall is so called due to its close proximity to an old and dilapidated steel bridge painted in red with wooden planks laid across Hangamu Oya on a disused road.
The bridge can be reached from Kolombagama in Nivithigala. From Nivithigala you need to walk across a government-run rubber estate for about 1.5-2 km to reach the bridge. The waterfall lies about 200 meters above the bridge and you need to walk across a tall mana field to reach the fall.
This waterfall is not on the LCWF list of waterfalls.
