Tissa Purana Rajamaha Viharaya is an ancient Buddhist temple in the Unuwathurabubula in Maha Oya. The temple lies just 3.7 km away from the popular hot water wells of Mahaoya.  The ancient ruins of this temple including an ancient stupa at this temple was declared as a protected archaeological site by the Government with the Gazette issued on 10th October 2014, and describes the location as follows ;

“Steps including hillock of ancient Chaitya, all places with the ruins of buildings at the premises of Thissa Purana Rajamaha Vihara (Latitude 07º 57573′ N and longitude 081º 35059′ E) belonging to Rathupas Uhana village situated in Grama Niladhari Division Unuwathura Bubula in the Divisional Secretary’s Division Mahaoya in Ampara District in Eastern Province.”

Above text point to a GPS location about 1 km away from the marker shown on the map. This is probably an oversight  and the marker has been moved to the corrected point.
