The Kanneliya-Dediyagala-Nakiyadeniya or KDN forest complex was designated as a biosphere reserve in 2004 by UNESCO. The KDN complex is the last large remaining rainforest in Sri Lanka other than Sinharaja. This forest area has been identified as one of the floristically richest areas in South Asia. The forest complex is situated 35 km northwest of the city of Galle.
This multi-necklace waterfall is more lively in May –June. The area is a natural wildflower garden with various orchids and kaleidoscopic butterfly multitudes lending a riotous spasm of colour. However, a fable reveals that a young pregnant damsel committed savvied here and her calls supposedly could be heard in the fall.
