The 30m-high fall flows rapidly over a stone ledge and resembles a line of silver as it cascades towards the Kotmale Reservoir. Tea is grown in the Palagolla Mountain above.
Palagolla Ella Fall is situated near Wedamulla village in the Palagolla area. Take the Kandy – Nuwara Eliya road, travelling past Sri Sudarshanaramaya and the 57th mile post. A little further on, there is a patch of pine trees on a slope to the left. The fall can be viewed from the road but for a better view, climb down the slope.
