In 2009 artist Vasantha Perera published sketches of ambalamas seen off the beaten track. He observed that the kenimadala on the roof of the ambalama at Naranwela village, Peradeniya-Daulagala road, was in a lotus pattern. The roof of this ambalama stands on four granite pillars. The roof is the typical Kandyan style (doubled-pitched hipped roof) and tiled with flat clay tiles common with buildings buildings built during the Kandyan Era. This ambalama was declared as an archaeological monument in 1974.

The ancient Daulagala Ambalama was located in the stretch of paddy fields at Kotukamba. The access road had been altered after the construction of a new road. C. B. Nugawela, Diyawadana Nilame had constructed this ambalama in 1914 close to the cart track. The ambalama rests on pillars engraved with designs and fixed to a foundation. The arrangement of seats in the ambalama on 3 levels based on the social status of the occupants is a noticeable feature. This building is currently maintained by the Department of Archaeology.

The Ambalama lies at the junction where Watadeniya Road meets Peradeniya – Gadoladeniya Road (B116) at Daulagala Town.
