The 14m Kumbaloluwa Ella Falls (Kosgolla Ella Falls) cascades in two stages into a deep gorge known as ‘Atambagahawala’. Which is said to have already claimed the life of a Buddhist priest. The villages in the vicinity are Kossgalgama, Nagaguleyadda and Pussella. Families, living here, use the fall as their water source. The name of the fall dates back to King Gajabahu I (112-134 CE), who brought a group of prisoners from his expedition to India. Amongst those one was a tribe consisting of pot makers who were later settled here. The name is said to be an acronym for this tribe.

Location of the fall is Kosgolla Village, Ambanganga Korale PS, Laggala Electorate, Matale District. To get the fall travel along Matale Kumbuloluwa Road towards the final bus halt in the route. Passing the Kumaloluwa School, for 500m where the junction is situated. Turn to the right, and go further for another 20m. Where the Gamaduwa Oya Tank, a hanging bridge called ‘Sangili Palama’ by natives, and built by the British is found. Cross the bridge and trek over a rock formation for about 100 to the location of the fall.

The 12 meter high Kumbal Oluwa Edaruthel Ella waterfall also lies in the vicinity but the exact location is not known.
