The Kivulekadawala Shalilabimbarama is a temple built on an ancient temple complex in Kivulekadawala on the Adampane – Kuchchaveli road near a reservoir. Granite pillars where buildings stood proud in ancient times can be seen scattered around. Ruins of an ancient image house and a life-size standing Buddha statue destroyed by the LTTE Terrorists can also be seen at this site.
Prof. Senarath Paranavithana has discussed an Athani Pillar inscription in Kivulekada containing the eight auspicious symbols (Atamagala) of King Sena I (9th century AD). [Is it located here?]
