Rikillagaskada Ambalama is an ancient wayside rest built for the use of wary travellers many years ago. But unfortunately being at the centre of the town, it has lost its ancient glory and turned into another building to do business. The ambalama is dilapidated and the roof has been patched haphazardly with tin roof sheets without any consideration of the antiquity of the building.
The building is considerably large and two tiny boutiques operate inside this dilapidated structure.
Rikillagaskada lies about 37km from Kandy town and 5 kilometres past Hanguranketha town. Getakulama Ambalama, another small brick and mortar wayside rest lies about 1 km From Hanguranketha on the Dimbulkumbura road.
