Yatawara Gal Ambalama is an ancient wayside shelter hidden and unknown in the Yatawara area in the Kandy District. The ambalama is built on 4 granite pillars and during renovations, the roof has been made of concrete.
The road which passes by the ambalama has been raised significantly from its original level thus today the Ambalama lies in a pit, half of it below the road level.
The Ambalama can be reached from Kandy through Mahaiyawa – Polgolla – Doragamuwa to reach the Doragamuwa junction on Kudugala – Wattegama Road. From here continue towards Wattegama. Continue on this road for 1 km up to Gal Ambalama Bus Stop. Turn to the road in front of the bus stand and the Ambalama lies 20 meters away from this junction half buried near the road.
