Hulannuge is a village situated along the Siyambalanduwa – Lahugala Road. Heda Oya flows through Hulannuge feeding the paddy fields of the village.
An ancient stone anicut (gal amuna) anicut at Hulannuge on the Heda Oya has been declared as a protected archaeological site by the Government with the Gazette issued on 10th October 2014, and describes the location as follows;
“Hada oya stone anicut in 14 Kanuwegama village situated in Grama Niladhari Division PP 12 Hulannuge West in Divisional Secretary’s Division Lahugala in Ampara District in Eastern Province. (latitude 06º 89074′ N and longitude 081º 64542′ E).”
GPS location is marked based on the above description. However it is recommended to get more information and directions before attempting to visit the place.
