A flight of steps carved on a rock at a gravel road running through a paddy field in the Galapitagala village in Uhana, Ampara has been declared as a protected archaeological site by the Government with the Gazette issued on 26th December 2014 and is described in the gazette as follows ;
“Small rock with the plight of steps near the road of paddy field No. 32/109 belonging to Galapitagala village situated in Grama Niladhari Division No. W/104/C, Galapitagala East in the Divisional Secretary’s Division, Uhana in Ampara District in Eastern Province. (Latitude 07º27´ 34´´ N and longitude 081º39´ 17´´ E).”
