Ganthuna Ella (Gantuna Ella, Gantuna Falls)  lies off the remote town of Ganthuna in the Kegalle District. The waterfall falls in 3 segments, and largest segment is 20 meters high.

The waterfall is created by the waters of Dothalu Oya which falls on the Gurugoda Oya at the new Ganthuna town which in turn falls onto the Kelani River.

To reach the waterfall you need to travel to the new Ganthuna town,  cross the bridge over Gurugoda Oya and another 2 km towards the village of Sakkarakanda. Ganthuna can be reached from Avissawella through Bulathkohupitiya – Undugoda – Mabopitiya or from Kegalle town through Hettimulla – Eragama.

From the www.srilankanwaterfalls.org ;

“Gantuna Falls flows from the 900m-high Dothalu Oya Mountain, in Nuwara Eliya Kegalle District. From Undugoda, situated along the road between Bulathkohupitiya and Kegalle, continue to Gantuna (three villages), 7km away. From Gantuna village, it is possible to see the funnel-shaped fall, which is 20m high. Be aware that the path is covered in thorny, scrub plants.

The journey can be completed in any vehicle. Kegalle is the nearest town. Places to stay include the Kegalle rest-house, 20km away, and Kitulgala rest-house, 22km away.”
