Mathurata Wattaramthanne Purana Viharaya

Wattaramthanne Purana Viharaya lies hidden between the Mathurata and Mandaramnuwara in the Nuwara Eliya distinct.

This ancient temple probably belongs to the Kandyan era and contains number of relics which seems to be from different eras. One unique stone carving found at the temple is of interest. Although not so clear it shows a face with a strange head dress resembling a modern space suite.
