Kaluebe Archaeological Site is located on a hill in the Kiriyagaswewa village in the Kiriyagaswewa Grama Niladhari Division No. 607 in the Kekirawa Divisional Secretariat Division in Anuradhapura District of the North Central Province.

This place is located on the right hand side of the road after travelling 36 km from Anuradhapura to Maradankadawala and travelling about 13 km on the road to Habarana on the left from Maradankadawala town, then turning left towards Ritigala and travelling about 9km on this road passing the Ritigala wildlife office.

This complex can be seen on the Kaluebe mountain range’s western slope, which extends north-south. Archaeological evidence from ruins suggests that this complex has existed from the Anuradhapura period to the Kandyan period. Ritigala, which lies close to the Kaluebe Archaeological site, can be identified as an archaeological monastic complex created in the past parallel to the Veebeddahinna monastic complex.

The drip-lined cave located in this complex is an archaeologically important site. This site shows the ruins of an image house. On the cave floor, you can see ancient brick walls, stone tiles, flower alters, Yupa stone etc. Accordingly, it can be concluded that the image house built during the Anuradhapura period has been dilapidated and renovated again during the Kandy period.

The ruins of a small dagoba made of rubble are at the highest point of the mountain. In addition, at the foot of the mountain, there is a wall made of rubble and 4 pillar base stones. In the courtyard of the new dagoba of this temple, there is a part of a standing statue with a detached head, a Yupa pillar, a stone pedestal, sacred footstones (Sri pathul gala) and bases of statues.
