Hibitilandegala is a small rocky area with ruins of a possible stupa at the top hidden in the jungles of Kotiyagala bordering Yala National Park in Monaragala District. Hibitilandegala is located 8.4 kilometers east of Kotiyagala and 4.5 kilometers south east of of Dimbulagala Kanda.

To reach the site proceed for northeast for 3.2km from Kotiyagala to reach Wila Oya river bed. Then proceed further 5km to the down stream of Wila Oya passing through small concrete embankment and turn to the south-southeast direction for about 1 km.

The land mass between Monaragala and Yala northern border is filled with remote villages who mainly survive on paddy and Chena cultivations. Most of the land is covered in jungles and rock formations of various size an height rise at various locations. At most of these rock formations, you will find remains of ancient Buddhist monasteries providing a glimpse of the past of this area. Most of the ruins are not even reported but a research party headed by Takashi Okamura from Hosei University in Japan had made 2 research visits in 1985 and 1993 and has documented a significant number of hidden ruins in this area.

Hibitilandegala rock hill is 1.2 km long east to west and 146meters high. Remains of 3 structures are found at the top of the hill (A, B, C) and a pathaha (D). There are 4 pathahas (E,F,G,I) and one rock shelter (H) on the southern slope. There are remains of 4 undetermined structures (J,K,L,N) and 2 pathahas (M,O) on the north-western slope. On the Northern slope you find one rock shelter (P) and for pathaha’s (Q,R,S and T).

At the peak you find a collapsed brick structure measuring 7 meters across and 50 cm high. A pit has been dug by treasure hunters at the center of the structure. Even though its not possible to identify the structure due to advance state of decay, this is possibly remains of a stupa. About 25 meters northwest of this structure, there is another unidentified building (B) and structure C lies 20 meters northwest of B.
