This 3m perennial Bambarun Gahana Ella Waterfall originates from the Dunumadala River in the Kawdagama mountain range. The fall has inspired much local poetry. It is situated 1km from the village of Puwakpitiya in the Matale District Laggala PC. Take the Matale – Laggala road. Turn off at Illukumura Bazaar and proceed for 5km to Kahagala. From here, it is necessary to trek for a further 5km to reach the fall.

Although the LCWF indicates a 5km trek to reach this waterfall, Based on a Lakdasun Report this fall can be reached with a 1 km hike.  The existence and the directions to this waterfall are only known by the villagers of Puwakpitiya. The people of the Illukkumbura are not aware of this waterfall.

Therefore travel to the village of Puwakpitiya. There is a footpath along the Puwakpitiya Ancient temple towards the fall. This path will lead to Dunumadala Oya and then travel upstream about 50 meters to reach the fall.  A guide from the village might be a good idea if hunting for this waterfall.
