The 24m tall Bandigewatta Ella Falls, which eventually flows via tributaries to the Walawe River, derives its title from an ancient local ruler by the name of Bandiya. At the foot of the fall is, according to villagers who claim to have explored it, an endless and dark passage. The land upstream of the fall has been used for tea plantations and this has caused environmental degradation.
Bandigewatta Falls is situated in the Ratnapura District. To reach it, take the Ratnapura – Deniyaya road to Suriyakanda (Sooriyakanda) village.
