A rock plain on the Bogahalanda village near Lahugala Magul Maha Viharaya North West of Yalpotha Reservoir has been declared as a protected archaeological site by the Government with the Gazette issued on 10th October 2014, and describes the location as follows;
“Rock plain with ancient chisel holing located towards North West to the Yalpotha tank (06º86944′ N and 081º73777′ E) belonging to Bogahalanda village in Pansalgoda PP 07 Grama Niladari Division in the Divisional Secretary’s Division, Lahugala in Ampara District in Eastern Province.”
GPS location is marked based on the above description. However it is recommended to get more information and directions before attempting to visit the place.
