Dalukgolla Sri Purwarama Rajamaha Viharaya is an ancient Tampita Viharaya built during the Kandyan Era. Tampita Viharaya is a temple built on pillars. The main image house of the temple is built on a wooden platform built on a set of pillars. Most of the time the pillars are made of granite but sometimes wooden pillars can be found too. The primary reason for elevating the building off the ground is said to be for the wooden building to be protected from insects such as termites. This was a popular architectural feature on the temples built during the Kandyan Era.
The Dalukgolla Tampita Viharaya could be reached from Nikaweratiya on the Kurunegala – Puttalam Road. The temple lies about 6 km from Nikaweratiya towards Yapahuwa on the B326 Road.
