Kossagala is a remote village in the Ampara District situated deep inside the wilderness west of Uhana. The Kossagala  Kanda is a small hillock with several drip ledge caves with inscriptions which probably belonged to a forest monastery thousands of years ago in the village of Lathugala.  This site was declared a protected archaeological site by the Government with the Gazette issued on 10th October 2014, and describes the location as follows ;

Kossagalakanda with drip ledged caves containing cave inscriptions and other marks in Kossagala village (latitude 07º 23′ 58” N and longitude 081º 34′ 59”E) situated in Grama Niladhari Division No. W/104/A005, Walagampura in the Divisional Secretary’s Division Uhana in Ampara District in Eastern Province

GPS location is marked based on the above description. However, it is recommended to get directions to the ruins from a villager in Lathugala. In addition, access difficulties to this site are unknown.
