Samanbedda cave temple is an ancient temple complex lying close to Ampara town. This complex is believed to have been built by King Saddhatissa (137-119 BC).

A large number of ruins including an ancient stupa overgrown weed, at least 3 Sri Pathul Gal ( footprint of Buddha carved on a granite slab), stone pillars and moonstones can be seen scattered on this ancient site. No proper archaeological study has been done at Samanbedda.
