Kaluwala Ella is a small but beautiful waterfall lying in the Monaragala District close to Wellawaya town. As you travel 2 km on the Boralanda road from Ella Junction in Wellawaya, you will reach a water purification plant called Ice Peella. Thus this waterfall is also known as the “Ice Peella Ella”. Close to its fence lies a footpath which ends up at a stream. There is a canal across this stream which should be crossed with caution.
After crossing this stream one would come across another stream with a lovely waterfall with a deep base pool. The natural pool on top of the waterfall is relatively safe and it’s one of the best bathing sites in the whole district.
