Katuwel Ella Fall lies about 700 meters before the popular Olu Ella Falls on the Yatiyanthota – See Poth Road. The fall is created by the Wee Oya itself and only partially visible to the main road.

Dombepola junction lies about 650 meters before the Olu Ella falls bridge. This is not a much of a junction but consist only a small boutique and a bus stop.

At this junction you will find a notice board directing you to Dombepola Kanishta Vidyalaya. Take this slippery rock paved path and towards the Wee Oya and then cross the river on a narrow foot bridge.

On the other side of a bridge is a pink house and a tea patch to the left. Walk along the tea patch towards Yatiyanthota for 100 meters or so while keeping a ear to the sound of the gushing water. To reach the base of the falls, you need to maneuver your way though a area of some thorny bushes.

Being a waterfall off the beaten path, it carries no known name so has been christened as Katuwel Ella by the content contributor (Sri Abeywickrema) as the path to the falls is full of thorny creepers. For consistency this name will be used to identify the waterfall by amazinglanka as well. This waterfall is not listed in LCWF database.
