Bujjomuwa lies 13 kilometers away from Ambepussa through the town of Alawwa. Pallemorugama Jayawardhana Sri Sumangalaramaya Viharaya lies in Bujjomuwa bordering Maha Oya on the border of the North Western Province.
Tampita Vihara was a popular architectural feature during the Kandyan kingdom where the temple was built on a platform which was held on an array of pillars, mostly stone.
A Tampita Viharaya exists in the Pallemorugama Jayawardhana Sri Sumangalaramaya Viharaya but unfortunately the ground has been filled up and a wall has been encompassing the stone pillars of the Tampita Viharaya. Therefore today it is seen as a normal image house built during the Kandyan era. The image house is 4.21×3.48 meters in size.
