The god had the hair-relic secured in a golden reliquary and enshrined it in a small tope (Mahiyangana Viharaya) 10 ft. high and 24 ft. in circumference (Mhv. 1:36). It is the first cetiya in Sri Lanka, built during the life-time of the Buddha. All other cetiyas were of later construction.

The pillar inscription belongs to the reign of King Udaya IV (946-954) . It has been recorded that the trade had been practiced in a town of Hopitigama. To reach the Bingelanda Caves, one needs to get to Meegahakivula and take the Ketawatta road for one mile. After you reach Akurukaduwa Gramaseva office take the rd towards Galkada and get in touch with a villager willing to act as your local guide.
To reach the Meegahakivula Kovil Mulla Ruins, one needs to take the Ketawatta road from Meegahakivula. Proceeding along Ketawatta road will bring you to Gurumada junction from here ride along Kalugahakadura rd until you reach Komarika gama where the Komarika Ela could be found.
To reach this unknown Jeewan Ella (Deevan Ella) waterfall one needs to take the Ketawatta road from Meegahakivula for 2 miles and take a left turn towards Pimburaulpotha. After proceeding 500m you will find a stair way to the left. Go along this stair way until you see a clear path to the right to reach the base of the fall.
To reach Meegahakivula Wee Atuwa Ruins, one needs to take the Ketawatta road from Meegahakivula for 2 miles and take a left turn towards Pimburaulpotha.
Maduwalla Kandura Ella Falls lies in a tributary of Loggal Oya Reservoir also called called Madu Walla Kandura in the Meegahakivula area.
Polgahaarawa Kaluwala Ella is an anther rather unknown waterfall in Badulla District. To reach it one needs to reach Arawa and from there take the road towards Kalugahakadura via Polgahaarawa.
Traveling through Meegahakivula towards Mahiyanganaya and 2km pass the town, you will come across the B86 road at the Arawa Junction. Traveling 2.6 km on this road , you will come across the Purana Meda Maha Viharaya of Karandagahamada.
