Site Location and Nature of Archaeological Evidence
The area where Miyangolla Ela crosses the boundary between the Kiran and Chenkalady Divisional Secretariat Divisions is known as Aliyaodai. The stream and its interconnected network of waterways extend throughout the surrounding area. The archaeological ruins are situated at the foot of the hill known locally as Dorapora.
The remains consist of a building constructed using short, roughly finished stone pillars. Several pillars remain standing in their original positions, while others have fallen around the structure. No other archaeological evidence is currently exposed at the site. Nevertheless, the surviving stone pillars and their architectural characteristics provide evidence of an ancient structure associated with the Anuradhapura period.
