The first 10m Elgin Estate Fall – II in the Elgin Estate seen cascading from a mountain to the right of the road. From Talawakelle there is a bus to the site of the fall. From here, a 1.5km trek through difficult track leads to the fall.
Dumpus Ella Fall is a small but enchanting waterfall situated in Gilimale area in Ratnapura District. To access the waterfall, travel along Gilimale – Siripagama road.
The area in which the Dummala Ella Fall was earlier called Katuhena and that the former name of the stream was Thattibathgoda Ela. King Walagamba is stated to have sought refuge in the nearby forests after being defeated in a battle. The king is said to have washed his eating vessel (Thatti) in this stream and on Poya days a golden Thatti is said to be seen floating on this stream.
At the foot of the 20m-high Dumbara Ella Falls there is a cave that can accommodate up to eight people. The fall is situated in the Kalupahana area, Matale District (Laggala Divisional Secretariat).
Dotulu Ella Fall is the first waterfall in the Eli Hatha Waterfall Chain. The second fall is called Ran Dotulu Ella. The balance 5 waterfalls are called respectively by their number. This chain of waterfalls is created by a series of drops in the Naya Ganga (river) in the western side of the Sri Pada Reserve.
This 53m-high Dodan Ella Fall cascades in two sections. At either side of the upper segment there are two elephant trunk-shaped stone arches. The fall’s source is the Devipahala Ela Canal, which flows through Demalegama village before pouring off a rock ledge.
The source of the 30m-high Dodam Gallena Ella Fall springs from the Dangadova Mountain and flows via Bullathgama to the Walaweganga River.
Diyawetena Ella (Diyawetenella) fall is a fairly large waterfall is located the Alawathugoda village in the Badulla District on the boarder of the Nuwara Eliya District. This village lies between the Keppatipola – Boralanda road at the 8th kilometer post.
Diyan Ella Fall is one of several falls located in the Walawe Valley, Ratnapura District. The double-streamed fall (20m in height) flows through jungle, from Ravana Mountain to the Walawe River.
The source of the Diyathiri Ella Fall is a tributary of the Maha Oya (river), which springs from a height of 1574m Gentry Box Mountain. After the 30m drop of the fall, the water flows 125km to the sea at Waikkal,
This is a small waterfall lying above the famous Diyaluma Waterfall in on the Beragala – Wellawaya Road. This fall is known by many names such as “Punchi Diyaluma Ella”, Kuda Diyaluma Ella”, “Ihala Diyaluma Ella”, “Uda Diyaluma Ella” and “Upper Diyaluma Falls”.
The Diyakerella Ella Fall flows through jungle and cascades down a 45m-high rock formation – the noise made is incredible. As the water hits the bottom, another fall is created, though only the upper section is visible through the dense foliage. The beauty of the fall is enhanced by the towering presence of the Lakkgala Mountain at Meemure village. Beneath the fall is an elephants’ corridor known as ‘Ethpara’ and there is also a monastery nearby. The stream joins the Heenganga River and later the Mahaweli River.
To get to this 20m-high fall, which is 21km from Kitulgala, take the Nuwara Eliya highway for 3km to Karalina Estate. A clear view of the fall is afforded from both Norton Bridge road and the High Level road. The source of the fall is the Mahaweli River, which is located 5km south-east of Ginigathena, near the Norton Bridge junction, towards the top of Karalina Estate.
This little-known Diyabetma Ella Fall (5m in height) in the middle of jungle is rarely visited due to the difficult terrain. The water comes from the Walawe River, which springs from the Samanala mountain range and incorporates the Belihul River at Demodara.
Devon Falls is one of the most popular waterfall in the country specially due its clear view from the popular Hatton Nuwara Eliya Road. The best view is from Dimbula where a special viewpoint is located with parking facilities.
Formerly known as ‘Thevatura Falls’ (Tea Waterfall), the Peratas Tea Estate and factory are located above. The Devathura Ella Falls cascades over several platforms, thought only a 10m section is visible from the road, and eventually joins the Kotmale Reservoir.
Despite its height, this Devagiri Ella Fall is not a frequently visited place due to its location. The locals may refer to this waterfall also as Diyangiri ella.
The 3m tall Kekuna Ella Fall, situated in Kegalle District Deraniyagala Pradeshiya Saba in the Panakura village. A trek through the footpath down the Panakura School leads to the fall.
Delta Falls is 6km from Pussellawa, at a bridge near the 41st mile post and can be reached by road or rail. The Pussellawa rest-house is 9km away.
The 6m-high Dekinda Ella Falll’s source springs from the 24-hectare reserve on the Allagala Mountain, near Yatinuwara historical fortress.
