Kahanawita Ella is a popular waterfall in Gomala Oya lying on the Dehiowita – Deraniyagala road 3.5 km away from Dehiowita. This waterfall is also known by the name Ballamula Ella Falls.
This is a popular bathing location for visitors and the people in the area. The bathing areas of this waterfall draw large crowds during weekends and other holidays. However, 4 lives were lost in 2011 due to the sudden rise of water in the fall. Therefore as in all river bathing places, one needs to be conscious of sudden rains in the catchment areas which may cause flash floods.
To enjoy the beauty of the surrounding area weekdays are best to visit this place. Its a perfect place for a day out. This waterfall is not listed in the database of LCWF.
