Lanka Ella Falls is one of the few waterfalls unspoiled by human activity due to its remote location. This falls lies about 1 km from the Bambarakanda Falls, the tallest waterfall in Sri Lanka, and is accessible only by foot.
The waterfall gets its name from the rock pool below the falls which resembles a teardrop, the shape of the island of Sri Lanka. This pool is said to be extremely deep and is not suitable for bathing.
From Kalupahana take the road to Ohiya through Bambarakanda Falls. Travel time from Kalupahana is approx 30–40 minutes due to the road condition.
The waterfall is reached by foot from the road leading to the Bambarakanda Falls. Take the footpath which leads to the top of the Bambarakanda Falls. You can reach the waterfall by trekking about 1 km in the forest.
