Passing Verugal town and traveling towards for Batticaloa from Serunuwara, you will come across this ancient stupa on top of a rock. The site lies about 1 km from the Verugal Aru Bridge.
Unfortunately most local government bodies in the North and South with a majority of Tamil and Muslim representation are in the process of wiping out all evidence of lesser known archaeological sites in these regions before they became widely known.
The above stupa is also currently facing the same fate with the rock on which this stupa sits being now quarried for stone.
