Paluwella Angeerasuththararamaya (Angirasuththararamaya) is an ancient Buddhist temple with a Tampita Viharaya belonging to the Kandyan era which lies about 13 km off Kuliyapitiya. To reach the temple from Kuliyapitiya, Take the Pannala Road from Kuliyapitiya and travel for 8.7 km and take the Narangoda Ingaradavula road on the left. Travel 3.5 km on this route and take the right lane from the Diyakalamulla junction. The access road to the temple can be found 400 meters down this road.
A Tampita Viharaya is a structure built on a wooden platform which rests on number of stone stumps usually 3-4 feet tall. The roof is held by a structure built of timber and the walls are generally made of wattle and daub. Walls inside the chamber is more or less always covered in paintings drawn mainly in Kandyan style.
This temple is listed in the book “Sri Lankawe Tampita Vihara” By Kusumsiri Vijayawardana and not much information is available.
Update : This Tampita Viharaya has collapsed and does not exist today
