Samapura Pullayar Kovil Archaeological Ruins in Ampara – අම්පාර සාමපුර පුල්ලියාර් කෝවිල පුරාවිද්යා භූමිය
Samapura Pullayar Kovil lies just 800 meters from the Ampara roundabout on the Inginiyagala road adjoining the Ampara Wewa. The Rock plain with chronicles at the premises this Pullayar Kovil has been declared as a protected archaeological site by the Government with the Gazette issued on 10th October 2014, and describes the location as follows ;
“Rock plain with chronicles at the premises of Pilleyar Kovil belonging to Samapura village situated in the Grama Niladhari Division No. W/89/B, Samapura in the Divisional Secretary’s Division Ampara in Ampara District in Eastern Province. (latitude 07º 17′ 16.5” N and longitude 081º 39’53.6”E).”
