Alagiyawanna Ella Fall (Bopagama Ella) originates from a nascent outflow of the aquifers within Kandalanda Estate. The stream is further augmented by the Nagas Canal. Descending in cascades over two prominent rock boulders, the watercourse continues its journey across surrounding agrarian lands before draining into the Attanagalu tank.

During periods of rainfall, the flow becomes especially vigorous and animated. The dense canopy formed by towering trees restricts sunlight, creating a notably dim and subdued environment. The stream supports a variety of fish species, including Galpadiya Pethiya and Dandiya. It remains a popular waterfall among local visitors.

Access

From the Colombo–Kandy Road, turn at Nittambuwa Junction. Proceed via Watupitiwala, Attanagalla, and Urpola towards Hanwella until reaching Meewitigama Junction. From there, turn and travel approximately 1.5 km (0.93 miles) towards Amitirigala to arrive at Bopagama Temple. The waterfall is located about 1 km (0.62 miles) from the temple.
