The ancient Piligalla Ambalama bordering the village of Yalegoda and Angunawela had been completely destroyed. Some of the symbols in the premises are still noticeable. The road from Angunawela Urulewatta Vihara to Daulagala via Piligalla was linked to the Peradeniya-Gampola road.
This road had served as the main access road to Udunuwara and had been noted in the Survey maps. This had also served as the road leading to Embekka Devalaya according Laurie’s records.
Travelling 1 1/2 kilometers along this road climbing the nearby rock, the site located to its right can be reached. Symbols of the sun, moon, dog, crow and cobra found in a stone slab imply the donation as a perpetual grant.
The marker on the Google Map below points to the approximate area. Please see directions above.
