
Rathgallegama Sigiriya Rajamaha Viharaya is located in a remote and a harsh forested area 9 km away from Daladagama (Padeniya-Galgamuwa road) in the Kurunegala District. Fom Daladagama you need to travel to Maho (Mahawa), then take Sri Rahula Mawatha in front of the hospital for 3.5 km, turn to the gravel road to the right, travel for 1.3 km, cross the Makadu Reservoir bund and turn right for another 750 meters to reach the Rathgallegama temple.
Tampita Vihara was a popular architectural feature during the Kandyan kingdom where the temple was built on a platform which was held on an array of pillars, mostly stone.
Tampita Viharaya at Rathgallegama Sigiri Rajamaha Viharaya is built on 4 stone pillars 2.13 meters high. A circumambulating path runs around the image house. It is 83 centimeters wide at front, 54 cm wide on sides and rear. The image house is 4.11×2.11 meters in size and the building is 4.65×3.30 meters in size.
