Located in the forest near Adikandukulama Reservoir, this Anuradhapura-period south-facing cave features a 7-meter drip ledge (katarama), measuring 3 meters high and 2.5 meters deep. Although damaged by illegal digging, the site reveals remains of an internal brick structure within the rock outcrop.
This Drip-Ledge Cave in the Forest Near Adikandukulama Tank is located in Kudumbimalai village, within the Kudumbimalai (209-D) Grāma Niladhāri Division of the Kōralai Pattu South Divisional Secretariat in Kiran.
Access Route
From Kiran Junction, travel along the Kudumbimalai Road to the left of Pulipanchakal Junction for approximately 26 kilometers to reach the Miyankulam Memorial. Turn right near the memorial, pass near Kudumbimalai, and continue along Soravanachcholai Road for approximately 1 kilometer to reach the preschool building. From there, proceed approximately 3 kilometers towards Adikandukulama Reservoir. Enter the forest along the by-road in that area and continue for approximately 300 meters to reach the site.

The site is associated with human activity during the Anuradhapura period.
Site Location and Nature of Archaeological Evidence
The cave is located around a rock outcrop within the forest near Adikandukulama Reservoir. It opens towards the south and has a height of approximately 3 meters. A drip ledge, or katarama, measuring approximately 7 meters in length, has been carved along the rock face. The cave extends approximately 2.5 meters in depth. Destructive digging carried out in front of the cave has exposed evidence of a brick structure located within it.
