Kotavehera in Aluthwewa village belongs to the Divisional Secretariat Division of the Monaragala District of the Uva Province.

A small stupa and remains of a retaining wall around  the stupa located on a rock platform is found in this site. Near the Dagoba is  a circle carved on the rock of about 3½ feet in diameter. This site has been declared as an protected archaeological site by the department of archaeology.

This site lies on the Balangoda – Thanamalvila road between Kalthota and Hambegamuwa. It lies 7 km before Hambegamuwa and 12 km away from Kalthota.
