About

Kallebokka is an estate bordering the Knuckles Mountain Range, under the management of the Sri Lanka State Plantations Corporation. Located on a hilltop within the Upper Division of the estate is a vantage point that offers a sweeping 360° panoramic view of the surrounding landscape, including the Knuckles range. This viewpoint is open to visitors and accessible to the public.

Situated at an elevation of approximately 1,350 m (4,500 ft) above sea level, the peak presents a striking and expansive vista of the region.

Access from Kandy

The site lies about 35 km (21.7 miles) from Kandy. The journey begins along the scenic Madawala–Bambarella road, which winds through mountainous terrain. After traveling roughly 25 km (15.5 miles), turn onto Kabaragala Road at a fork. Continuing for about 10 km (6.2 miles), you will reach the estate entrance. From there, follow the by-road leading to the Senior Assistant Superintendent’s bungalow in the Upper Division of Kellebokka.

Access from Matale

From Matale, the distance is approximately 25 km (15.5 miles). Travel along the road դեպի Kabaragala and proceed past it until reaching the turn-off to the Senior Assistant Superintendent’s bungalow. The total journey time from Matale is slightly over one hour.

Vehicle Access

It is possible to reach the peak by vehicle; however, the final stretch involves a 4 km (2.5 miles) journey along a deteriorated estate road. A vehicle with sufficient ground clearance is therefore essential to navigate this section safely.
