Katupilagolla Ambalama – කටුපිලගොල්ල අම්බලම

The Katupilagolla ambalama lies in Ridigama in Kurunegala between Rambadagalla Viharaya and Ridi Viharaya. The building lies on a 3 way junction on the turn off to the Raddagoda and Delhena estates at Delwita.
The structure is quite spacious covering about 22 feet x 22 feet area built on sixteen granite pillars. Two dates can seen carved on the granite structure. One is 1865 and the other is a inscription with the date 1442 BE which is 1899 AD thus this Ambalama would have been built in 1865 and gone through a major rebuilt in 1899.
The roof is tiled with clay calicut tiles (rata ulu) and a clay pinnacle typical to amblama designs can be seen at the top of the roof. The side walls are half height and there is seating space around this wall.
