This site could be reached by turning left at the canal found after passing 150m from the 65th kilometer post of the Medawachchiya-Mannar (A14) Road, then proceeding another 800m parallel to the canal on a gravel road and turning left at the first junction and continuing a further 250m on the Maligapiddi (sin. Maligapitiya) road. The site is situated on the right-hand side of the road.

There is an ancient stupa what appears to be a mound of earth on the left-hand side when entering the site. This stupa covers a 30m x 30m area, now dilapidated and overgrown with weeds. There is ruins of a building at a distance of 40m to the west of this mound with 4 stone pillars and 5 pillar bases. There is a high ground 10m to the south of this building. There are pillar remains, bricks, tile remains etc around this site.

Based on the evidence, this has been an ancient Buddhist Monastery belonging to the Anuradhapura period. Unfortunately, no excavation or conservation has been done by the Department of Archaeology thus much unknown history of this monastery is still buried underneath.

The villagers believed that these ruined pillars belonged to an ancient palace thus this area is been called Maligapiddi, the “Palace Ground“.
