The Morapaya Ambalama lies about 2 kms on the road to Mandaram Nuwara from Padiyapellela. Even through lying right next to the road, this Ambalama doesn’t seems to have been caught the eye of the authorities.
Ambalama is an wayside rest halls built by the kings or chieftains of the area for weary travelers when the primary mode of transport was by foot and a journey would take many days.
Morapaya Ambalama rests on nine granite pillars. The original roof of has been replaced by a tin roofing which is now rusted. The side walls too have been made with cement at some time. Unfortunately this stands neglected with posters stuck all over it today.
