Pathagala Archaeological Site is located near the Namal Pokuna Rajamaha Viharaya, deep within the remote jungle of the Dalukana Grama Niladhari Division, under the Dimbulagala Divisional Secretariat and occupies a low-lying rocky area near Pathagala Wewa.
To access the reserve, travel approximately 1.3 km past the Namal Pokuna Rajamaha Viharaya and take a right turn onto a cement brick-paved road. Continue for another 1 km to reach the newly constructed Pathagala Forest Monastery (aranya). From there, a footpath through the jungle leads about 500 meters further to the archaeological site.
The site consists of scattered stone pillar bases, blocks of rock and brickbats spread across the rocky terrain. The absence of stone pillars suggests that the original structures were likely supported by wooden columns and built with bricks, which have not survived over time.
