Piyangala Chitralena (cave of frescoes) is an huge cave with ancient veddha paintings lying close the the Piyangala Forest Hermitage. An archeology department board just before the turn off to the Pulukunava Raja Maha Viharaya directs you this majestic cave. The cave lies about 100 meters away from the road.
Locals call this “Nagas” cave because a terrorist called “Nagas” was found dead here, after been shot by the military.
